Sailor Mae made her appearance at 7am on the dot on April 20th, 2020 at Fort Worth Birthing and Wellness Center. Her birthday will certainly be an easy one to remember.
I got the call at 4am that Miranda was starting active labor and that they were heading to the birthing center. I arrived shortly after they did at 4:45am. And after talking with the midwife learned that Miranda was dilated to a 4. Which hearing this would make other moms worried, not Miranda. She took that in stride and knew Sailor Mae would be making her arrival soon. Her other two births were fast and furious.
She was given the option to go back home to labor, but instead decided to see what the day brought. We buckled down and just got cozy. Mom and dad laid for a ‘nap’, and I settled on the couch while we did lights out for a little. By nap I mean, contractions after contractions with a peanut ball between your legs; and trying to rest as much as you can because your baby is about to be born.
Contractions picked up around 6/6:15am, they were hot and heavy at that point. Miranda labored in the small bathtub, on the toilet, in the kitchen, on the bed and finally landing in the big birthing tub with two pushes to go. Just then Sailor Mae made her arrival, with a gorgeous sunset showing through the blinds. Such a sweet little girl, she had no cares. She whined a little but overall, just wanted loving and cuddles from momma and daddy.
Working on her video gave me such amazing flashbacks from her birth, and just reminds me of how great God truly is. To bring live into this world, to make women’s bodies do such amazing things is truly such a miracle.
And a big thanks to the H family for letting me be part of this chapter in their lives. Love you lots family!
