Introducing - Luke Richard Born - June 22, 2019 6:01am 7.3 obs 20 1/2"
Luke’s birth was beautiful! I got the call at 4:30am to head to the Origins Birth & Wellness Collective Center. By the time we arrived, Elizabeth was already dilated to a 10. After laboring on the bed, floor and the tub, she finally gave birth to Luke Richard back on the bed. Elizabeth’s sweet hubby Aron stayed by her side the entire time, giving her sweet kisses and words of encouragement. Midwife Roxanne and midwife Bliss (who is also Luke’s grandmother) supported Elizabeth all along while Aron’s mom stood back interceding with prayer. They welcomed beautiful baby Luke into the world at 6:01am. You can also see his birth video here.
Not only is having a doula amazing, but when that doula is your mom it brings it full circle. Elizabeth’s mother, Bliss, owns her own doula business and helps mommas all across DFW welcome their littles; but when you help welcome your own grandchild earthside you get an overflowing heart full of joy and love.
Can we just pause a minute and recognize how precious this daddy is?!! He kept being so sweet to Elizabeth through the whole process, comforting and coaching. Super proud daddy moment right here.
We are prepping things for the herbal bath here, smelling the herbs boil is amazing. They have a ‘healing’ smell to them, and it just makes you feel safe. With touches of lavender and other essential herbs and oils this method is a great addition to any birth to help heal you after birth.
Little sweet Luke really enjoyed his herbal bath, he just melted into mommas arms and fell fast asleep.
The perfect snack after a birth is soup, it warms the soul and is also an easy transport for parents to the birthing center. Make it a few days before and put it in a baggie, once you are at the birthing center make sure your doula or midwife puts your baggie in the freezer and helps you warm it up after your sweet baby has made it earthside.
And how cute is this going home outfit?! I love the little lion head on Luke’s onesie. King of the jungle, lions are. King of mommy’s heart, Luke is.
A huge shout out to the ladies at Origins Birth for the amazing support they give and the encouragement they bring to each birth, it is seriously the best time with them! And also to Mother Bliss Doula, you are a rock lady. Each and every birth we work together makes my heart happy, your love and compassion for your mommas is beyond words!
