It is my pleasure to introduce baby Noah! Brittany’s delivery is a special one, as she is a sexual trauma survivor. She and her husband David had been trying for Noah, so when the time came they took the test together. They were so excited at the news. Brittany’s pregnancy cravings were her hubby’s chocolate protein shakes! 😉
I got the call the night before that Brittany was starting labor. She went to the Origins birthing center in Fort Worth, Texas on June 11th, but with only being dilated to a one they sent her home to sleep. The next morning around 3am her contractions had progressed and she went back to the Origins birthing center to labor. Her midwife told me to head that way about 11am on Friday the 12th.
When I arrived, mamma was laboring beside the bed and you could tell her body was starting the transition phase. Shortly after I arrived we went for a walk outside for fresh air and then after we got back inside she labored in the shower on the birth ball, then the tub, then back on the bed. About 7ish pm we went for another walk outside. Labor had slowed down so around 10:30pm they suggested that we all kinda just take a rest and zone out.
After taking a little nap in the front room for about an hour, I woke up to find Brittany back in active labor! The pushing started about 12:45 am and Noah was born at 2:09am on the July 13th, 2020. This strong woman went over 48 hours with no sleep and labored for 31 of those hours! It was a long day, but so beautiful and so worth it!!
“How quickly your heart is given away to another human. How raw and scary and beautiful it really is. You’re immediately willing to sacrifice anything for that little human. How close it brings you to your partner. Your perspective of what truly matters changes in an instant. How much you picture their future–with fear and with excitement. ALL OF IT.”
“He’s honestly THE BEST baby!! We keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, y’all! He sleeps through the night (outside of me waking him to nurse), loves to sleep in, loves his cuddles, doesn’t fuss or cry much, is super alert, SO DANG STRONG, and…is he not the cutest little boy?! Our doctors and family keep telling us we’re lucky. We’re just thanking God for such a blessing of a baby.”
This lady right here was a force to be reckoned with. Her birthing experience took her on a journey and I can’t wait for you to read about it through her words. To check out more of her personal journey and what it was like to give birth after sexual trauma, click here.
The best part about an Origins water birth- the healing herbal bath! So soothing for both baby and mama.
